About

Social dancing is great. We love it. But sometimes we can get into a situation while social dancing that doesn’t feel so great. That feel bad, or wrong.

Equally, sometimes things happen that don’t feel bad or wrong necessarily, but that you’d like to talk to someone about. You might have questions about policy, for example, or you might be new to dance and want some advice navigating your scene.

To quickly access help through our site:

  • Start typing the name of the organisation/event into the search bar in the top, left of the screen.
  • Follow the links to the contact form
  • Tell us what happened using the form and the safe space organiser from that scene will get back to you as soon as possible.

Safe Dance was founded to connect dancers with dedicated safe space organisers in their local scenes. Through this website you can get in touch anonymously with your questions, comments and concerns, and know that they are going straight to someone who wants to listen, and who has the skills and authority to do something to help.

We hope that whatever brings you here can be resolved equitably, and that you can find a solution that takes care of everyone concerned. If this is the first time on this site, we recommend our Finding an Organisation page, and if you’re already happy navigating the site, you can use our contact pages to send in your concern. If you would like to join Safe Dance, we have a new page up for Organisers.

We also use the Safe Dance blog to celebrate Acts of Kindness from within the social dance community: people who’ve done things that particularly helped make their community a safe place to be. If you want to share a story, of if you have any issues with the site itself (broken link, non-response etc) you can contact Safe Dance directly here.

Happy dancing!
